Information Overload.

ALL WE SEE ON SOCIAL MEDIA IS:

Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information.

“One of the most ironic things I’ve learned from students who attend my camps, everything they want to know, they don’t need to know.” - Dame

From who? EVERYONE.

Everyone in a creative space is looking for/at: Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information. Information.

Problem - Everyone online in music:

  • wants to learn.

  • thinks they need to learn more than they need to be creating.

  • can’t find the right people to learn from.

  • don’t know how to learn.

  • didn’t value the learning resources they had before they took music serious, and are now looking to fill that void with learning and applying themselves to music.

  • are a product of the lack of access & information on the professional side of music and have no idea that the key to success in music, or any industry is not any of the information they are collecting online.

  • don’t care about the intent of the person they are collecting information from.

What is the intent behind each piece of information that you come across?

  • Did this person share this information for you, or for them?

  • How much information do you need? Are you sure?

  • Whose information is accurate? Whose information was stolen? Whose information came from experience? Whose information is a part of a marketing campaign?

  • Who told you that you needed this information? You? How do you know?

  • How much of this information do you need?

  • Do you know how to apply this information? Do you know when to apply this information?

  • Are you 100% sure that this information applies to you?

  • Have you done anything with the information you’ve already collected?

  • Why are you collecting information?

Creatives are collecting information to fill the void & reality of actually having to apply the information, and people sharing the information don’t care, as long as you keep watching/listening to them.

How many people that have shared information with you had a conversation with you, to tell you if this information applies to you or not?

How many people that have shared information with you actually know who you are personally? Do you not care about a personal connection with someone who is sharing information with you?

Who stops you from collecting too much information?

Do you ever stop yourself from collecting too much information?

How do you know if you’ve already collected too much information?

Do you realize how much time it takes to actually process a piece of information, and how much time you have to spend attempting to apply a piece of information before you seek to take in additional information?

This is the problem in music. Everyone is smart, and dumb at the same time. People know a lot of shit but can’t show you shit.

People talk about shit they’ve heard more than they can tell you a story about something they’ve done that could be helpful to the listener.

Some of the things I pride myself on are:

  • I understand what music information truly is.

  • I understand which information is helpful vs. harmful.

  • I actually care about the well being of each individual person that I am helping.

  • I look to teach & guide each one of my students specific to their needs.

  • I’ve been through the entire life cycle of a music creative and aspiring music professional in every area.

  • I can see an influencer online and I know which influencers are intentional and which are not.

  • I know who is making content for the people and for themselves.

What I’ve realized about educating, helping & guiding adults who are seeking information, advice, counsel, help, guidance, mentorship:

  • Most are not intentional, don’t even understand that they have to be intentional and will quit at some point. They will not believe things they’ve never heard anyone else say, despite this new information being the best thing for them & 100% correct. Most will affect their own chances of success in music before they can ever fully process the information you’ve created special for them.

  • … The only thing you can do to protect yourself when helping adults in music, and online is, CHARGE for your time & service, because if you don’t people will use up any free time you offer, take full advantage of it, then dispose of you the moment you look to speak up for yourself… the person who attempted to introduce them to the true keys to their individual success.
